One of the things I love the most about having a blog is the possibility of looking into the archive for older pictures. It is so much fun to see photos you had nearly forgotten again and it really makes me happy to see all the time and effort I have put into something. Here are some photos by Emelie Sundvall, my mother, Felicia Linden and Caroline Ekberg. I really love these and they make me warm on the inside because I know how much fun we had taking them! I will spend this day retouching photos from the photoshoot yesterday and working on our concept report, also I need to do some work for a new project me and my aunt are working on so it will be a busy busy day! So, now let's get to it!
As you may already understand, food was the focus when we went to Berlin. This place, I visited for the first time around half a year ago when my German roommate took me there to have some typically German food when visiting the country. We ate Käse Spätzle (Cheese Noodles) that is usually eaten in the south of Germany and I was sold in a second. I believe, since then I've been talking about the dish and ever time I meet German people I always have to go on about how in love I am with it. So, it became something like a slight obsession and now when we were going back to Berlin I knew I had to visit this little gem again. Anyways, since we had so many other plans and it seamed to be closed on the day during the Saturday we said that we would go there if we had time on Sunday evening. So, biking through Berlin on the Saturday we accidentally went by it - and it was open! To my happiness we stopped and went inside, ordered some beers, a burger and of course my divine käse spätzle and the moment the food reached our table also my love was completely sold! Imagine mac and cheese, but a 100 times better! Also the burger was absolutely amazing (and I am not an easy flirt when it comes to burgers). It may seam like I'm telling a cosy little fairytale about this place and its food, but this is exactly how I feel about it. The atmosphere is absolutely amazing and the guy in the restaurant is super friendly and helpful. We ended up going back the day after when we were both suffering from quite a horrible hangover to indulge in some more käse spätzle before we had to leave Berlin. This will definitely be a place I will go back to every time I'm visiting Berlin and I must say I'm quite glad there's not a place like this in Amsterdam since that would probably have an immense impact on my figure! Oh and the place is called Bötzow-Privat! Address: Linienstaße 113, 10115 Berlin Website: HERE.
As I mentioned earlier, I spent last weekend in Berlin together with my love. We rented bikes in true Dutch spirit so that we could easily transport ourselves around the city and ate a lot and some really amazing food. We also went to Watergate on the Saturday evening which of course maid our Sunday very energetic (yes you heard it right, that's sarcasm). The reason why we went to Berlin this time was because my boyfriend absolutely love it there and last time I was there I simply didn't get a good impression, so basically we wanted to see if I would change my opinion. For me my experiences were like night and day. I had so much fun this time around and really loved seeing all the cool places. Last time was a complete nightmare for me, which probably have to do with the fact that I went there together with my entire program. The service was bad, people were unfriendly and the weather was shit. BUT - I'm very happy that I got the chance to change my opinion about this amazing city. Biking and walking around all the time means that comfort is on the top of the list. No heals (wore a pair the first evening and deeply regretted it), no dresses, you know what I mean. And another rule of thumb when you know you will be eating like a horse is to wear something slightly oversized. ;) So, you might be able to guess what the next couple of days are going to be like? Food, food and more food!
The other Sunday me, Bou and Sarah visited the place Waterkant here in Amsterdam. It was my first time there but had been quite curious for a while. The atmosphere was great and relaxed - perfect for a day that you just want to enjoy the sun and even if I'm not a big fan of having to order in a bar I think it worked out well. After having stood in a line for a while we finally ordered and the food arrived quickly at our table, and it was absolutely great. However, the coleslaw was quite boring and since I am such a huge fan of the burgers at de Biertuin (another project by Riad Farhat, Jason Berg & Brian Fernandes) I just couldn't help getting a bit disappointed that it wasn't as good as the one they have. However, the chicken roti roll was a real hit and I will definitely want to visit this place again another day when the sun is shining! Even if the sunny-season is now over I can't wait to get myself some new shades. My favourite pari, that I bought at Spitafields market in London died on me a couple of months ago and since then I've been craving for a new pair. But, having no clue what to buy, since all I can think of is my old pair, I have found myself stuck in a jungle of sunglasses. Does anyone have any tips? In that case leave a comment in the comment section and I'll reward the person with the best tips with a feature. xx.
